Big Spring Herald: BSHS 2010 Graduates

Graduation: What it means to some!

Most students will don the graduation academic regalia to honor the age-old tradition involving 'pomp and circumstance'.
Honoring each student's accomplishments, this tradition is mainly for graduates to receive their diplomas in front of their loved ones so that together, they may all celebrate the prideful moment. "Bragging rights" in all their glory are indeed exercised during this time.

For those few whom have opted not to 'walk the stage', that is your prerogative - you earned the right to make that decision, but do not allow anyone or anything to diminish your accomplishments because you are just as deserving and should be just as proud. Your loved ones are just as proud of you as well.
CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2010!

Best of luck!

BSHS 2010 Graduate: Dominique Renee

Congratulations and best wishes as well to my great niece Dominique as she also graduates from Big Spring High School on Friday 05-28-10.
"Congratulations, you did it!"...
That is what you will probably hear most tomorrow night, but that is only the beginning of many verbal accolades for you. The most important one is for you to keep on the road to success and to have an awesome future.
That is what I wish for you - we all do.
You can do anything you want - you are very intelligent.
Several of us in my family are BSHS alumni and we are always tickled to see other family members added to the list.
However, it matters only to become an alumnus - from any school - because in the end...it only matters that you graduate and get that diploma and not from where it was received.

Graduation - that is an awesome feat!!!

BSHS 2010 Graduate: Jacob John

Congratulations to my nephew Jacob as he graduates from Big Spring High School.
His parents are Rudy and Yoli.
They are proud of Jacob as are the rest of us (his family).
Best wishes and many blessings.
I hear that he may join the Army like his dad and two older brothers have. If so, good luck to you, my dear nephew. God speed with that endeavor or with whatever path you choose for yourself.
You are smart and can do anything your mind sets out to do.
No words of wisdom except..."trust your heart"..."to thyself be true"!

Welcome Home: My nephew Christopher

My nephew Christopher.
He is back in Ft Hood, Texas after a tour in Afghanistan.

His parents are my brother and sis-in-law, Rudy and Yoli Dominguez Jr.
They are very proud and so elated at having Christopher back on U.S. soil again. Blessings to them for that!
We are all happy he is back safe and sound and so proud of him.
My brother, my nephew Rudy III and Christopher are all soldiers and we are proud of their service to this great country.
Memorial Day is a special day for them. May they get the recognition and respect they deserve.

Lady Killer: My great-nephew Joshie

Handsome isn't he?!!
He takes after his dad (Rudy III) and his grandpa (Rudy Jr), and of course after his grandma Yoli. (Right, Yoli, we settled this matter already. ha, ha.).
He certainly has the looks of a future heart-breaker indeed. I may be biased - but I dare you to tell it to my face - this little guy is good-looookinggg!!!

Grandpa and grandson: My brother Rudy and Joshie

My brother Rudy (proud grandpa) and Joshie.
Originally sent to me as a video. I will upload and post it that way ASAP.
Aren't these two just too good looking to even post! ha, ha!
To Yoli: I now need a pic of you to post, okay? ;-)

Video: My brother Rudy and his grandson Joshie!

Here is the video as I promised. Enjoy! It's short but very CUTE!

My brother looks so much like our dad.
That is so cool and though it makes me melancholy, I am so glad we are all part of this wonderful familia!
I cherish the good times...past, present and future!

It means so much to us that this occasion is upon us for various, obvious reasons. I am counting on a good turn out from loved ones. Even if I had not been her Sponsor, with what Alex means to me (like my own child), wild horses could not keep me away. Being her Sponsor is just icing...

A PICTUREsque SATURDAY: An Awesome Day with Family!

Saturday the first day of May 2010. Sara and I drove to Big Spring, Texas to spend the day with Mama, the Guzman family and the Puentes family. We wanted to take grad pics of Felicia; her, Eva & Erica were awesome and gracious in accepting our invitation to do so...thanks for the opportunity 2 my sis and nieces. Thanks as well to Nick (and Erica) for being such good sports while we literally took apart their dining room and converted it into a photography studio, and gracias for the delicious hamburgers which you provided - they hit the spot. We were all equally excited and glad that Mama was able to join us for the entire day as we took pics at casa Puentes and around the beautiful town which is Big Spring. The nice amount of rainfall made the landscapes around town so green and lush. Not a bad pic was taken (indoors or outdoors).
Aside from taking pics at chez Puentes, we ventured into Comanche Trail Park. While there we took pics at the Ampitheatre, the original Watering Hole, and around the Spring.
Needless to say we were all exhausted by the end of the day. Not a bad sport among us!!!
Sara and I will be adding special touches and getting approval from the Guzman family before I post any of the grad pics here on this web site. For now, please enjoy the following collage of casual pics which Sara took of Mama, Eva and me as we followed around patiently through-out the day.
My all-time fav pic is the one of Mama sitting down with the hat (red band) in the center of the below collage. The one with Mama, Eva and me is obviously titled: "Hear No Evil, See No Evil, Speak No Evil". We were at the ampitheatre at the time Sara took it. (As always, click on pic for larger view - best in a new tab or window)
A big thank-you to Sara for taking the pics on Saturday and for allowing me to serve as your personal assistant (lol). You did a great job! Also, please know that I greatly appreciate your enthusiasm for taking pics especially when they are of my loved ones. You are right about pictures and why they are so important and such. I wasn't always one for appreciating them, but for obvious reasons in the past few years, I have become a fan.
I opened up several picture programs which I currently have installed on my laptop and saw the grad pics alone in my office. I am able to edit pics in various ways with each program, but I was unable to begin any editing right now. WHY??? Because I cried as I viewed each pic. Felicia and Erica have become beautiful young ladies. Beautiful does not do their looks justice, and I am not being biased either. Several ppl comment about how beautiful they are.
Actually, all of my nieces and nephews are good-looking. Aside from the good looks, each one of them is mindful, respectful and upstanding. Each one successful in his/her own right. I am so proud of them all. During the time I skimmed through the grad pics which Sara took, I reflected on what a blessed family we really are. Personally being so thankful for Mom, my sisters, my brother, my nieces (great ones), my nephews (great and great great ones) and for Sara and her family. As I write this post to blog, I hold back tears but am so elated and overwhelmed for being a part of this family!!!
And, Sara, the joy is not due to the wonderful bar-be-que which you are currently outside cooking (ha, ha).
