BDAYS

In Memory of Jabier's sister, Emma Hernandez-Hightower: Rest in peace.

Emma Hightower, 63, went home to her Father, God in heaven, Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011. Funeral: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moore Bowen Road Chapel. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens. Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Emma was born Dec. 28, 1947 in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was the 10th child of a family of 13 children. Her family were mostly farm workers while she was growing up until the family moved to Big Spring. There she married her husband, Jerry, in 1975. When the air base closed, they moved to Del Rio, where their daughter, Stephanie, was born. Then they moved to Fort Worth where their son, John Paul, was born. Then they moved to Wichita Falls until Jerry left the USAF and was hired by Delta Air Lines. They moved to Arlington in 1986 and have been happy here the past 25 years. Emma was a very charismatic person and she studied the Holy Bible with understanding. She became a Touch Point prayer leader to help those in need. She will be missed dearly. Survivors: Husband, Jerry; daughter, Stephanie Hayes; son, John Paul Hightower; grandsons, Jonas, Justice and Jakob Hayes, all of Arlington; sisters, Alicia Monje of Big Spring, Connie Moncada of Houston, Lucilla Garcia of San Antonio and Olivia Martinez of Pflugerville; brothers, Jose Hernandez, Aristeo Hernandez and Jesus Hernandez, all in Big Spring, and Jabier Hernandez of Midland; and many nieces and nephews.
