BIRTHDAY WISHES:Happy Birthday, Jabier H.!

'
Happy Birthday, Jabier!
We are lucky to have you in our family -
for well over 30 years now!!!
Jabier is always there when his help is needed.
On a personal note, I want to say that
Jabier is a very important person in my life.
More like a brother - or even like a second father to me.
The things he has done for me in past years and
still continues to do for me are just too many to list
(except for the few below).
Jabier, thanks for helping fix things on the SUV, our home
and for the good advice with never any judgement.
Both he and my sis have been part of a much needed
support-system in my life
especially for the past couple of years!
*** Have a great birthday, brother! ***

BIRTHDAY WISHES: Mom's Birthday Dinner: Saturday 09-04-10! (pix via vid)...

MAMA'S BIRTHDAY DINNER, 09-04-10!
*******************
Happy Birthday again to our dear Mom, Eva "Evita"!
SEPTEMBER 2nd, 2010!
*****************************
Her birthday was on Thursday, 09-02-10, but her birthday dinner was on Saturday, 09-04-10. There was lots and lots of good food. Food which Mama herself cooked (i.e. arroz, pinto beans, refried beans, picadillo, steak, chicken, macaroni casserole, etc...). We did not want her to cook, but she insisted and when Mama makes up her mind to do something, it is always best to just step aside and allow her to do as she wants! Her birthday dinner was such an event...she wanted to cook the dinner herself to ensure that as many of us could be there together to help her celebrate her awesome event. We planned to take her out to eat that evening, but she wanted a home-cooked meal so when "Mama speaks, we listen...when Mama makes a demand, we abide!"
Saturday was mostly dinner with a cake which Aurora bought her. Most of her children and grand-children gave her presents on her actual birthday Thursday; she received lots of great gifts. Like I said in the posting dedicated to her on Thursday, Mama loves plants and flowers which is mainly what she received. Aurora gave her some beautiful outdoor plants Thursday which she helped Mom place in the yard on Saturday (they did a lot of digging and putting in new soil...reminds me...I must be the only one who does not have a green thumb like Mama and my group of sisters have - I love plants, but suck at keeping them alive. Maybe I just don't try hard enough to learn domestic-horticulture. LOL). Anyway back to Thursday, Erica and Nick gave Mom a beautiful bouquet of flowers as did Felicia. Eva, Felicia and Wero gave Mom $ome money $o $he could buy whatever she wanted and took her some cupcakes. Betty and Billy took Mom out to eat that evening. Yesterday, Tuesday (09-07-10), following Mom's Dr's appointment here in Midland, Josie, Jabier, Alex, Sara and I bought Mom some clothes for cooler weather (autumn / fall) to come.
Of course we (her children - daughters) called her on her special day as did the in-laws, friends, her own siblings, her grand-children and some great, grand-kids. I believe that Mama receiving the b-day wishes via a phone call through-out the day meant just as much to her second maybe only to the b-day dinner itself. It was great! As many of us just being together and having such a great time is always special, and we all did have an awesome time - the laughter seldom stopped especially when we ate the delish meal that Mom cooked. But eating doesn't quiet us down too much, we always "cut-up" about something.
Mama was indeed happy and that is all we wish for more so than anything else.

Mom's Doctor's Visit:: A Girl's Day Out!

Tuesday: September 7th, 2010
Mom had a doctor's appointment here in Midland with her R.A. Specialist so Aurora drove her over from Big Spring and Betty was able to accompany them. Eva and Felicia were not able to join them, but we did miss them during our day-long journey. Anyone who is familiar with Mom's doctor knows that they will not be seen right away, but Tuesday was rather lengthy even for his office. I believe we all waited around for a good 2.5 hours. My sisters and I are known to joke around a lot and we cut up so much that I think we almost annoy our Mom. ALMOST!!! Anyway, Tuesday was no different.
Whether we were finding things to laugh at during the wait for Mom to see her doctor, during lunch or the shopping spree, we always found something to talk about and for sure for which to laugh. Betty had Josie and me having to contain our own loud laughter while at the doctor's waiting room. Someone had a really stupid ring-tone which sounded like either a bicycle horn or a horn one hears at a circus. All that was left was to hear the entire rendition of the circus song...Josie tried so hard not to laugh but for some reason, I just could not contain myself and I actually let out the first laugh...then Betty just couldn't hold it in and she busted out laughing so hard that all three of us had to try to hide our faces and cover our mouths to keep from getting too out of hand. Aurora asked "what the hell we were laughing at?" but none of us could tell her - not right then. We told her later when we went to eat at Rosa's, but she did not really find it that amusing. The three of us did and we started laughing again but not as much. It is the kind of romp you have to be a part of in order for you to understand it and for it to make you laugh as well. Poor Mom just kept shaking her head back and forth, but one could tell she was holding back her own laughter as well. That "ring-tone ala circus song incident" was just too funny not to laugh at, and I still chuckle now as I write this. I am singing it to myself..."da da da da da"...you get the point. The song is titled
"Entry of the Gladiators"...
Anyway, it was another fun day with Mom and my sisters. At the mall or at the grocery store, we had a fun time. Mom and Betty bought some things at the mall. Josie and I helped Mom pick out clothes for the cooler weather coming up. Our two house-holds (the Hernandez - Josie, Jabier & Alex and mine - Sara & me) bought her some nice khaki pants and jeans for a belated b-day gift. Josie waited for me til I had $ome mula Tue$day to buy Mom her gift (Thx). Everyone bought something or other while at the grocery store. We even ventured to a Mexican import store at the south-side of town. Like I said, Eva was severely missed, but maybe next time all five of us sisters can accompany Mom to her next doctor's appointment in November. Or for some other occasion as long as the five of us can be with Mom having fun and laughing. Even if we irritate Mom a little bit or embarrass her...she LOVES us!
"Bring in the clowns"...ha, ha, ha!
...play that circus song now.

BIRTHDAY WISHES: Happy Birthday, MAMA!

(click on collage to see more pix via Picasa online album)

DEAR, MAMA:
HERE IS WISHING YOU A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY
FROM ALL YOUR CHILDREN (6),
GRAND-CHILDREN (11), GREAT-GRAND-CHILDREN (10)
AND GREAT, GREAT-GRAND-CHILD (1)!
**********************************************
We love you dearly and are so lucky to have you in our lives.
Thanking G-d each and every single day He continues
to bless us with your presence!
*******************************************************
You do so much for this family without having to be asked.
If anyone needs anything, you are usually the first to help.
You ask for nothing in return...
but He is watching & He knows what you have done for your loved ones, for friends and even for strangers!
Many blessings your way for your unselfishness.
My hope, my wish is that all of us in this family
learn your caring ways and that each of us

has the ability and understanding to 'pay it forward' - always!
Not once have I ever seen you get angry and take it out on others...
that is the one thing I am always in awe of for sure.
You pick your battles - often at your own risk;
however, you do not mind getting the "short end of the stick"
as long as you know you are keeping the peace!

***You are this family's hero!***
HOW LUCKY ARE WE!!!

DOMINGUEZ FAMILY TREE: With Pictures and in color...definitely worth my while...ENJOY!
